Profile Cylinders

Profile cylinders are normally found in french door type locks. They are held in place by a screw located on the edge of the door. Loosening the screw allows you to slide the cylinder out for rekey or replacement. They are most commonly found in foreign manufacture doors and locks, such as Papaize. Some are not rekeyable and must be replaced for rekey. Their unusual construction makes them almost impossibe to dissasemble and reassemble, as both ends of the cylinder are the front. The better quality ones have the pin tumblers and springs held in place by small cap screws allowing for rekeying.

This is a basic profile lock and its cutout. Since profile locks are basically a European design, all the measurements tend to be in metric.

This is a 3 point profile cylinder lock that runs along the entire edge of the door, locking at top bottom and center.
